Daan Schiebaan

Co-Director of Wyla Sustainability Consulting, Daan, has 25  years of work experience. He is a multi-award-winning policy specialist with solid influence in a senior executive capacity and the ability to collaborate proactively with diverse stakeholders. He is a solutions focused, proactive, experienced senior professional with extensive track record in leading teams towards the delivery of strategic, sustainable and cost-effective environmental sustainability outcomes across government, non-government, corporate and the academic sector.

Daan has successfully led the delivery of the University of Newcastle's Sustainability Plan 2019 - 25, and the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle's first ever Sustainability Plan 2022 – 25.  

He has also the winner of the 2020 Green Gown Award for the Climate Action Category issued by Australian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS), and the 2020 TEFMA Innovation Award for transitioning the University of Newcastle to 100% renewable electricity.

Jessica Wegener

Co-Director of Wyla Sustainability Consulting, Jessica, has 16 combined years of work experience. She is an Indigenous woman from Ngiyampaa country in western NSW. Her influence has captured the interests of both national and international audiences specialising in Indigenous ecological knowledge, cultural fire management practices and protocol's that support Indigenous human rights.

She is committed to building capacity across the community to engage with Indigenous people in a meaningful way. Jessica is also a Co-Founder of the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation and a board member on several Indigenous organisations.
